The game of Roulette is fairly simple, there are 36 numbers (1-36) 18 of them are red and 18 of them are black, there are also two green numbers 0 and 00.

The dealer spins the wheel in one direction and the ball in another, whichever slot the ball lands in indicates the winning number and color.

There are many different bets you can make at the roulette table.

You can play a single number, which pays 35 to 1 if it wins, or you can play odd, which means if any odd number comes up you win 1 chip for every chip you bet. You can also play even numbers, red numbers, black numbers or various combinations of numbers.

If you are playing a number straight up, place your chip on that number, it doesn’t matter if someone else already has a chip there or not, if they do, just place your chip on top of theirs.

If you are playing 2 numbers (split), then place your chip between the two numbers.

If you are playing 3 numbers (street), then place your chip on the line of the street you want to bet. A street is the row of 3 numbers across the roulette table.

If you are playing 4 numbers (corner), then place your chip on the corner where the four numbers meet.

If you are playing 5 numbers (this play is only for the numbers 1, 2, 3, 0, & 00 only, thus called first five), then place your bet on the corner of the 1 and 0, make sure it is on the corner, otherwise it will be mistaken for a 2 number split bet between 1 and 0.

If you are playing 6 numbers (six way), then place your bet similar to the street bet, but splitting the two rows of three you want to bet.

If you are betting 12 numbers, there are six different 12 number combinations you can play, the first three are called dozen and are marked; 1st 12, 2nd 12, & 3rd 12. The second three are the columns of 12 that run up and down the layout, they are simply marked 2 to 1 at the bottom of the column, just choose which column you want and place your chip there.

If you are playing any of the 18 numbers plays, which are 1-18, 19-36, Odd, Even, Red, and/or Black, these are considered the outside plays and are clearly marked, simply place your chips on the bet you want to make.

It is always a good idea to check the house rules before play, as most casinos have minimum required bets on inside and outside numbers.
